What is a CrossFit class?
CrossFit, by definition, is constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity. What does that mean? We combine body weight movements with weighted movements, both of a high skill, in different time domains, weight domains and combinations. All movements are functional, meaning we don’t target singular muscle groups but rather movements which mimic life; a deadlift to pick up your bag, a press to place luggage overhead, or a muscle up to scale a wall. We encourage intensity once we have ensured your safety in the movement, to reap the maximum physical benefits in a class format.
What is a Metcon class?
Metcon means metabolic conditioning. This class removes some of the higher skill movements found in a general CrossFit class, such as complex gymnastics or Olympic lifts, so you can maximum the cardiovascular benefits. It makes you sweat, without the concentration!
What is a Gymnastics class?
Gymnastics movements can be extremely difficult to master for a CrossFit class, especially if you don’t have a gymnastics or similar style background. Our weekly gymnastics class is aimed towards CrossFit specific gymnastics strength, such as muscle ups, pull ups and hand stand walking. It’s also a lot of fun learning how to move your body into these positions.
What is an Olympic Lifting class?
The two Olympic lifts, the snatch and the clean & jerk, can take decades to master. We wanted to provide a specific class which enabled the focus to be on the intricate technical details of the lifts, such as the jerk drive and the third pull. Often in a regular CrossFit class, these small details can be overlooked due to time constraints. Each Olympic lifting class will have a specific focus, and will build on the program from the previous weeks to ensure you improve not only the numbers of your lifts, but also move towards mastering the technique.
What is a trial?
We don’t expect you to be able to know the ins and outs of what we do just by reading our website. That’s why we offer you a trial assessment or class, totally free of charge. We also want to get to know YOU in the trial, so we can be confident that what we are offering is going to be the perfect fit for YOU.
What is foundations?
Foundations is three introductory sessions to CrossFit, which must be completed before taking part in any of our classes, except Metcon. We take you through the foundational movements in a small group setting, so that you can feel comfortable and confident entering any one of our classes.
